Vintage retro tie crop top

Summer Top and Creating in a Pandemic

Right now is a historic moment as we are experiencing a global pandemic. I won’t lie, I am completely overwhelmed and overloaded with too many news reports and too much anxiety. My little business is just starting to grow and there seems to be more uncertainty than ever. My wonderful clients began to prepare for Viva Las Vegas and Tiki Oasis Arizona, only to have their fun canceled and for some their livelihood. This past week, I have had orders to finish, but have been so worried about everything, the motivation to get into the sewing room was practically impossible to find.

All of my other side jobs have been completely shut down making me reliant on HD Retro for my income. But I know I need to keep doing what I can do, and right now that is complete the orders I have, and hope people that are financially in a solid place, would like to order later as well.

I am hoping my clients are safe and managing and thinking of you all in these uncertain times.

I was able to finish a dress, and today I started and finished a summer tie top.

My little victory of patterning and cutting fabric was motivation to get this top done before I went to bed. I’ll admit I had some challenges. The pattern has a very strange collar application, and I felt distracted again by the barrage of media info online. Eventually some good tunes and several hours or persistence paid off.

I hope to make these in many available fabrics as they are a great staple that can be paired with a high waisted pant or a skirt. If there is a fabric color you are looking for we can make it happen. If you would like your own summer top click here.
